Stronger Together: A Message From the CEO
Dear Friend,
As we enter the winter months, the realities facing our community are becoming increasingly urgent. Every day, more of our neighbors are struggling to meet their basic needs. With your support, we are responding with all the strength and flexibility we can.
This season, every one of our shelters has expanded capacity to ensure that more people have a warm and safe place to stay. We are seeing new trends for those coming into our shelters, more seniors and more folks with mobility and cognitive limitations, meaning additional challenges and creative solutions to meet their needs. Our Essential Needs Center is seeing increased demand for clothing, food, and household goods, even as we work to take in more donations and mobilize additional volunteers to meet that demand.
Across all programs, we are witnessing the strain of a widening gap. Rents continue to climb. Lifelines such as SNAP and WIC food assistance programs are shrinking. Job hours are being cut, and the cost of living keeps rising. For many, it now takes everything they have just to hold on.
In response, we are adapting our programs and strengthening collaboration with other nonprofits across Montgomery County. Together, we are not only serving shared clients but also working to develop systemic solutions in partnership with the County. We are working to ensure that no one in our community is left behind. Your support is essential in this moment. It allows us to remain nimble, responsive, and deeply present for those who depend on us most.
As we approach the end of the year, I urge you to join us in our Stronger Together: Bridging the Gaps campaign by making a contribution. Your generosity directly sustains our mission and provides a lifeline for thousands of our neighbors who need stability and hope this winter.
With gratitude,
Courtney Hall, CEO
