May Community Conversation: Mental Health and Documentary Screening
Join us on May 29, 2024 from 7:00-10:00 p.m. for IW Community Conversation: Mental Health, with premiere screening and discussion of documentary “Have You Seen Teri?” by filmmaker Dene Chinn. Twenty plus years after Teri was last seen by her family, her niece filmmaker Dene Chinn has begun to search for her. In the search, Dene unpacks a fractured family history marked by disconnection, mental illnesses, and secrets mingled with socio-historical insights about black homeless women, yet lit with revelations about treatment, health services, and surprising discoveries about her aunt.
All participants must be 18 and older.

You're Invited!
You are cordially invited to attend our 1st Annual IW Faith & Community Partnerships Community Service Awards Brunch. Attendees of this event will have the opportunity to participate in the Faith & Philanthropy Forum focused on Economic Justice in partnership with the Greater Washington Community Foundation. The Forum will include discussion of rights to a living wage, housing, education, health care, clean environment, and food in Montgomery County. This event is complimentary to attend. A Step on the Pathway to Stability: Support Interfaith Works’ Future Fund this Giving Tuesday!
The Interfaith Works Future Fund is a dedicated resource aimed at helping our clients overcome financial challenges on their pathway to stability. Clients collaborate with their case managers and IW staff to apply for up to $1,000 from the Future Fund. The IW Future Fund is essential in helping clients move along their own unique path to stability.
Medical debt is a leading factor contributing to homelessness. The IW Future Fund can help address these financial challenges. Providing financial support for our clients is crucial to stabilizing their financial situation and helps prevent them from sliding further into poverty. An illuminating example is a client who was finally able to purchase much-needed eyeglasses, leading to personal and professional growth.
Clients in our Vocational Services Program often seek financial support through the IW Future Fund to obtain essential documentation, enabling them to enter the workforce and secure stable employment with regular pay and benefits. Others apply for assistance to purchase necessary laptops to secure academic and vocational success!
Curbio has offered to match all donations 1:1 up to a total of $30,000 this Giving Tuesday. So your donation will have twice the impact! Curbio has renovated one of our homes and has been a great long-term partner to IW. We are so grateful and excited for this opportunity!
Growing the IW Future Fund is a proactive step we can take together today to support our neighbors in finding their pathway to stability.

15th Annual Ice Cream Social for Charity!
Join us on Saturday August 19th at noon for the Park Potomac 15th Annual, Ice Cream Social for Charity! There will be live music, face painting, door prizes, merchants and Carmen’s ice cream. Bring your backpack donations to enter into the raffle for some amazing door prizes. All donations received will be distributed to students at the IW Essential Needs Center. We hope to see you there!

Bethesda Big Train Baseball Game!
On Friday, June 30th, IW will be recognized as one of the Bethesda Big Train’s 2023 Community Hero. We are so grateful that Big Train baseball is honoring our work this way.
IW will have a table just inside the main entrance to provide more information about our services and how to get involved. We will be acknowledged in the Big Train's game night program. Interfaith Works CEO Courtney Hall will throw out a ceremonial first pitch just before the game starts!

Scotland Juneteenth Heritage Festival
We’re so excited to be participating at the Juneteenth Festival in the Scotland Community of Potomac, MD, in celebration of Black history and culture in the area. We will have a table located in the Interfaith and Social Action Pavilion, at the 2023 Scotland Juneteenth Heritage Festival, Cabin John Village Mall, Potomac MD, Monday 6/19, 9am-4pm.
