Workforce Development

IW Workforce Development:

Interfaith Works Workforce Development (formerly IW Vocational Services Program) offers vocational services to Montgomery County neighbors experiencing or at risk of homelessness. IW Workforce Development serves clients residing within IW shelters, or guests who are referred from the IW Drop-In Center at Progress Place.  

Our bilingual vocational counselors—fluent in English, and Spanish —work with clients to help them gain skills, connect with and participate in in-house trainings, and receive one on one vocational services. Within IW Workforce Development, staff are working to remove barriers and create opportunities on the path to employment. 

IW Workforce Development is excited to have received the ENOUGH grant to provide our services directly to the Long Branch community. Two dedicated Vocational Counselors will work directly within this community to best serve clients and connect them to workforce development opportunities within the Long Branch Community. This year-long initiative will run until September 2027. 

Workforce Development also works with several specific community and workforce partners like Montgomery College, the Interagency Commission on Homelessness (ICH), WorkSource Montgomery and Bikes for the World. These partnerships enable us to host job fairs, help clients access and attend classes, gain experience through trainings, and remove barriers like transportation to access these resources.
