Tom has been a member of the public relations, marketing, and media landscape in the Washington, D.C. region for more than 30 years. From 2006 to 2020, Tom built and expanded the PR, Marketing, and Communications departments for Adventist HealthCare, one of the longest-serving and largest health systems in the region. He developed and executed crisis communication strategies to build and maintain the system’s community reputation. Tom also launched the system’s multiple social media channels and help redesign its website and community publication.

Prior to working at Adventist HealthCare, Tom served for 16 years as an editor of The Gazette in Montgomery County, a multimedia subsidiary of The Washington Post Company. The Gazette included a chain of nationally award-winning, weekly newspapers, a leading community website and an influential television show, which he hosted and produced for five years.

Tom has been a volunteer at Interfaith Works for more than 20 years, most recently serving on the Development Committee. He lives in Rockville with his wife of 34 years, Katie. They raised three sons and now have two daughters-in-law. Tom’s son, Mike, leads the Interfaith Works Food Hub.
