Women who are trying to find and keep jobs face difficult choices, with parenting made more complicated by COVID. These issues are highlighted in a recent Washington POST story. The piece shares the stories of women who have been working with IW’s Vocational Services Program to find sustainable employment.
IW CEO Courtney Hall is quoted in the story:
“The decision about whether or not to miss a shift is really a decision about whether or not you can pay your rent or whether you feed your family,” says Courtney Hall, chief executive of Interfaith Works, the organization that helped both Fofanah and Guzman find jobs.
“That’s really the burden. And I think it’s hidden.”
