[fusion_text]Interfaith Works welcomed members of our supporting congregations to the 2017 annual congregational meeting Nov. 13. CEO Shane Rock reviewed Interfaith Works’ 45-year history with Montgomery County faith communities, who launched the organization and have faithfully supported programs to shelter and feed people experiencing homelessness. He and Rev. Kasey Kaseman, faith liasion to the County Executive, introduced the Interfaith Network of Montgomery County, a collaboration between IW and the Montgomery County Faith Community Advisory Council (FCAC).
County Executive Ike Leggett stopped in to praise the collaboration between non-profits, particularly Interfaith Works, and Montgomery County’s faith communities to help people in crisis, expand opportunities, and welcome new neighbors, including refugees.
Patty Larson, coordinator of the FCAC’s “Welcoming Our New Neighbors” program, discussed the campaign to connect congregations with refugees who need assistance. Representatives of the Montgomery County Muslim Foundation and Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church described their efforts to help refugee families.
