Interfaith Works Online Volunteer Application
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Interfaith Works (IW). IW programs provide services to help our neighbors lift themselves out of poverty.
Please select up to two volunteer opportunities, then complete the form below.
Our greatest need is for volunteers to:
Interfaith Works Clothing Center, Rockville
- Sort and organize donated clothes and household goods that will be provided to IWCC clients free of charge
- (Maximum number of volunteers in a group is 40, minimum age is 14 years old, Tuesday – Saturday only)
Interfaith Works Women’s Center (IWWC), Rockville
- Provide breakfast, bagged lunches, or dinner, preferably for one week, limited opportunities for single meals
- (4-6 volunteers per night if serving dinner due to limited space)
Becky’s House Residence for Senior Women, Rockville
- Prepare meals: bagged lunches (no more than 10 at a time), dinner prepared offsite or cooked onsite with the residents between 5pm – 6pm, weekend brunch, or cookouts
- Activities: play bingo, play board games, or arts and crafts
- Occasional yard work, gardening, and maintenance
- (2-3 volunteers at one time, not appropriate for young children)
Watkins Mill Transitional Residence for Women, Gaithersburg
- Prepare meals: bagged lunches (no more than 20 at a time), dinner prepared offsite and dropped off or cooked onsite with the residents between 6pm – 7pm, weekend brunch prepared offsite and dropped off or cooked on site with the residents, or cookouts
(2-3 volunteers at one time, not appropriate for young children)
Interfaith Works Vocational Services, Montgomery County
- Assist with resumes, cover letters, online applications, mock interviews and preparation for entering the workforce.
- Work with one or more clients in computer lab to improve computer skills.
- Become a mentor to a newly employed client.
- (Opportunities for adults in Silver Spring, Rockville and Gaithersburg. Particular interest in bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates.
Friends in Action Family Mentoring, Montgomery County
- Mentor a Montgomery County Family for a year. As a mentor you will be able to help build crucial life skills, provide services like tutoring, and advocate for the family
- (Teams of 3-10 people, must be an adult, no single volunteers)
Additional opportunities:
Interfaith Works Residences, Silver Spring
- Host a dinner night
- Host a bingo (and/or other games) night
- Facilitate an art group (with the volunteers providing art supplies)
Interfaith Works Connections, Rockville
- Provide administrative support to the IW Connections Coordinator in providing intake, referrals, and emergency assistance
- (1 volunteer at a time, must be bi-lingual or speak Spanish)
Interfaith Works Empowerment Center, Silver Spring
- Lead a class/workshop
- Host a social/bingo
- Host a drive for travel-sized toiletries or other items
- (Group option available. Minimum age is 14 years old, )
