Safe Winter Shelter Program Open for Women
Women seeking safe, overnight shelter in the winter months (November through March) can come to the Interfaith Works Empowerment Center at Progress Place, 8106 Georgia Ave., in Silver Spring starting tonight, Friday, November 9, 2018.
The shelter will open at 6:45pm for women. Women seeking shelter should arrive no earlier than 5:45pm. Mats are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. No referral is necessary.
Men can go directly to HBCAC Men’s Emergency Shelter at 600 E Gude Drive, Rockville MD. This weekend, Montgomery County is providing a Ride-On shuttle bus from Progress Place to HBCAC Men’s Emergency Shelter around 7:15-7:30pm. The bus shuttle service is not confirmed beyond this weekend.
When the HBCAC Men’s Emergency Shelter reaches capacity, men will be able to find overnight shelter at Progress Place as space allows on a first-come, first-served basis.
