Fannie Mae's Help the Homeless Walk

Each year, we work with more than 40 schools, congregations and youth groups to educate the next generation about the issues of poverty in our community and how they can be part of the solution. We educate 17,000 youth through this extraordinary community-wide effor each year.
Each presentation includes a mini-walk, with youngsters sporting their own Fannie Mae Help the Homeless T-shirt. For information, or to have a walk scheduled at your school, congregation or youth activity, please contact Walks Coordinator
Cindy Hall. We encourage you to get in touch early to plan a miniwalk and/or to prepare for the big Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Walk that takes place in the Fall.

The Holiday Giving Project of Montgomery County

Interfaith Works is coordinating the Holiday Giving Project of Montgomery County! Read more and find out how you can get involved. For over 30 years, thanks to the generosity of individuals, organizations, businesses and the nonprofit community, the project has served families and individuals in need of extra help at the holiday season by providing holiday meals, toys and store gift cards for families or by volunteering their time with the project. Every February, Interfaith Works organizes and sponsors
Thanksgiving in February. Close to 100 Montgomery County restaurants join together to support hunger relief by contributing 10, 15 or 20% of their sales for one day. Funds collected are distributed to local non-profits who provide food and grocery money for hungry neighbors: Manna Food Center, Bethesda Cares, Bethesda HELP, Damascus HELP, Gaithersburg HELP, Germantown HELP, Olney HELP, Rockville HELP, Shepherd's Table, Community Vision, and WUMCO.

Community Recognition Awards
The Community Recognition Award salutes residents who are beating the odds to overcome poverty and the challenge of living on a limited income in Montgomery County. The goal of the award is to encourage and recognize the efforts and achievements of low-income residents to pursue their educational goals and become self-sufficient. Awardees receive small scholarships and other educational gifts. Awards are presented at the Annual Caregivers Conference, the 1st Wednesday in May. Contact
